Day 12: Keener Classics Summer Sojourn 2023

Final day on Sifnos – busy doing nothing on the beach; not as busy as Mary, who has her hands full from the looks of it…

Greetings from Paros! Day 12 of our adventure and we made it to Paros, on an evening ferry from Sifnos, where we spent our last day.

There was snorkelling, exploring (not much, just up to the Agia Marina chapel, up 98 steps from the beach), making patterns from the pieces of pottery found on the beach, and having a lovely dinner by the lapping waves of the sea. Then on to the ferry, and an hour’s journey to Paros.

Pictures of the Day

The view from the small chapel of Agia Marina up above the beach at Kamares
The interior of the chapel. An interesting picture of a sceptical Mary holding a devil’s horn…
A close-up of that picture. He looks a real nightmare…
The view as we waited for the Super Jet 2 ferry to take us to Naxos.

Highlight of the Day

Just a lot of doing nothing. And relax!

What I Learned Today

It’s amazing how much pottery there is on the beach (is this just in the Greek islands or more generally?) – much of it with glazing on one side.

This was a tiny fraction of the large amount of these pottery fragments everywhere on Kamares beach.

Looking Ahead

Four nights on the island of Paros, in the ferry port village of Parikia.

Final Thoughts

Paros seems a lot busier and bigger than Sifnos.
